Meet Jerrie Mock, Aviation's Forgotten Pioneer
She is the answer to the trivia question I have been throwing around the past few days. Jerrie was the first woman to fly solo around the world, and if you have never heard of her, you are not alone. She is shown at right standing next to her airplane, the Spirit of Columbus, which is back on display at the National Air and Space Museum's Steven Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA.
